My research interests lie in better understanding infectious diseases, especially using cutting edge technologies. More specifically, my project aims at visualizing and defining the entry routes employed by viruses to enter into cells. Tracking individual viruses entering cells has been technically challenging up to now, due to the small scale and the speed at which the events occur. However, the recently developed Lattice Light Sheet Microscope now makes imaging of such events possible. I am currently developing a microfluidic device specifically adapted for this microscope in order to cultivate the cells in a safe tiny closed chamber, where drugs and viruses may rapidly be added or removed.
